All About the American Dental Association

Posted .

Dr. Michael Hall is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA). Is that important? What can the ADA do for you? The short answers to these questions are yes and quite a bit. But why and what, specifically? We at Central Oregon Dental Center in Bend, Oregon thought you would never ask.

First, here’s the ADA’s basic background. It was created in 1859 and is now the nation’s largest dental association. Since the beginning, the ADA has worked diligently to advance the dental profession across the globe. There are over one hundred thousand-member dentists across America. These dentists have access to innovative information and education in the dentistry field and special benefits that can keep the state of their office and your dental care up-to-date and state-of-the-art.

The ADA has formed a program to assist consumers in choosing healthy products. It’s called the American Dental Association Seal of Acceptance Program. This program provides more than 300 consumer dental products with a seal of acceptance on its packaging. In order to be authorized to use the seal, oral hygiene companies must submit the results of rigorous scientific tests for safety and effectiveness. If you see a product with such a seal, you can know it will do what it claims to do.
